I quickly became interested in writing news due to my great interest in current events.
I've always found myself learning about my surroundings and what's happening not only in my school but the world around me. Through the newspaper, I've taken on different assignments, from covering new bills passed by the state to what is going on within our school, whether that be partnerships with NASA or new policies being implemented at our school.

"From the moon to the school"
This story is special because it’s not just about a tree, but it’s about an opportunity that brings the school together. I did all of the writing and interviewing, I also got more of an understanding on the history behind the Moon Tree's by doing outside research, the process of receiving a Moon Tree, and how it should be cared for. This piece was very fun to write and find out more of NASA's history. *This piece won a national Best of SNO award*

For this article I got the opportunity to speak to the districts administration. I gained more insight on what goes into consideration when it comes to choosing books for our schools libraries, and the requirements that need to be met in order for them to be offered to students across the district.

Eagle Brief –
Publishing the 'Eagle Brief' is an essential element of our newspaper, which we publish at the beginning of each week. Through the eagle brief, we share information about upcoming events that clubs, organizations, students, and staff are hosting in the next few weeks. Not only do we share important dates and sports schedules, but we also celebrate the wins and achievements of our students at Prosper High School.

For this week's Eagle Brief, we had a lot of sports and events going on. Using graphics to catch our reader's eye is important for them to stay engaged with our publications. Through the 'Eagle Dispatch' form shared by one of our librarians, we are able to find more information and posters regarding the events at our school. I also make sure to email staff and sponsors around the school to learn about what's happening, and what sports are playing that week.
